The Incas were a native South American people who once ruled one of the largest and richest empires of the Americas. At the end of the 15th century, the empire included more than 10 million people and covered 440,000 square miles. This book covers that vast distance, key events, and developments of these spellbinding people through accessible text and fun features such as maps and fact boxes.

Series Review: Exploring the Ancient WorldReading a volume in this series is like walking through a museum exhibit. The development, progression and decline of these civilizations are all presented as large images of artifacts, artwork, photographs, and colorful maps dominate the pages...The series would be a valuable addition to libraries looking to update or strengthen their collections on these particular topics, and would be a fine choice for research purposes.Library Media ConnectionBook Review: The Incan EmpireThis excellent book goes into a great amount of data for a 64 page book. There are colorful pictures, inserts, and words on every page. All aspects of Incan life are covered. I was very impressed that the book contained so much information. The amount of photos makes the book perfect for browsing as well as for information gathering. Appended are a timeline, glossary, further searches, and an index. It is the best book on this subject I have seen.Nancy Baker, McKamy Middle School
