Velociraptor and Other Raptors and Small Carnivores
Dinosaurs!
Velociraptors were members of a group of dinosaurs that included small, bird-like carnivores. The word "raptor" comes from the Latin word "seize," which means to take something by force. This explains the way the Velociraptor and other raptors survived--by forcefully taking what they needed. Although most were smaller than an adult human, they are believed to have been fierce hunters with several weapons. They had sharp teeth and a sharp claw on each hind foot. Colorful illustrations of carnivorous raptors will engage and amaze readers.
